This privacy notice provides additional details regarding your use of an application, provided by a party other than HERE, which has integrated an SDK from HERE.  

We make available certain software development kits, or “SDKs”, which consist of libraries of computer code which is integrated into the application. The HERE SDKs enable application developers to better use HERE services, or to add location-aware features into applications.  

Please note that we have no control over what information is directly collected or shared by the application that utilizes a HERE SDK. You should review the application’s privacy policy for information about the developer’s privacy practices. 

Purpose of processing activity: Improvement of HERE products and services. 

Description of the purpose of processing activity: We use the collected information to improve our location services and enrich our maps. The collected information helps us to improve and sustain the quality of our products and services in the areas relevant to you. For these purposes, we may combine information collected by the SDK data collection with other data we may have. Even when combined with other information, we are not able to identify you personally.  

Categories of personal information we process: In case the application you use utilizes HERE network-based positioning methods, the SDK data collection involves collection of Location Data, Timestamp, Identifiers and characteristics of near-by Wi-Fi and Cellular network signals (such as received signal strength), application name and device model information. This information is sent to us from time to time, after which it is deleted from your device. The information may also be coupled with a short-lived, at a maximum 15 minutes, session identifier, which doesn’t relate to you, your device, or your application. We do not use this data to identify you personally. 

Legal basis for processing your personal information: Data Contribution for Network Positioning via HERE SDK is based on the legal basis of legitimate interest. We have an interest to carry out this processing in order to constantly improve our products and services so that you are satisfied with them. 

Retention period of the processing activity: Data is not retained longer than is necessary for this purpose. The records obtained from your device are maintained for a maximum of 12 months. 

Categories of data recipients to whom we may provide the personal data: We do not share the personal information collected by the SDK data collection with independent third parties, unless otherwise explained in our privacy policies. 

Source of the personal information: We obtain the information from HERE SDK which has been integrated into your application.  

International transfer: Our products and services may be provided using resources and servers located in various countries around the world. Therefore, your personal data may be transferred across international borders outside the country where you use our services, including to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) that do not have laws providing specific protection for personal data or that have different legal rules on data protection, for example, the United States of America. In such cases we ensure that there is a legal basis for such a transfer and that adequate protection for your personal data is provided as required by applicable law, for example, by using standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or relevant authorities (where necessary) and by requiring the use of other appropriate technical and organizational information security measures. You may contact the HERE Privacy Office at privacy@HERE.com to obtain additional information about the safeguards we take in connection with these transfers. 

Safeguards in place: The information stored inside the device by the SDK data collection is protected against unauthorized access and use. The SDK data collection uses secured protocols to send the information from the device to our servers. The information is deleted from the device storage immediately after it is sent. 

Automated decision-making based on personal information: We do not perform automated decision-making nor profiling based on this personal information. 

As stated above, HERE does not have a capability to identify you personally based on the provided data set. In case that you would like your Wi-Fi access point to be excluded from supporting HERE location services, you can request it on HERE Wi-Fi Opt-Out | Legal, security, privacy and compliance
